Nominations
Nominate for the Hall of Fame.
In recognition of the service geocachers make to promote geocaching in Texas, TXGA continues to seek valued Texas Geocachers for the Hall of Fame. The Board established this process for nomination and selection of inductees.
Nomination Process
- Active TXGA members can submit one (1) nomination per year.
- Nominations open November 1 through December 15.
- Nominations can be submitted in-person at RoundUp or electronically. Electronic submissions go through the nomination form.
Nomination Criteria
- Ideal nominees are those who have given significantly to the geocaching community at large — the geocachers you see at events volunteering their time and skills, helping others, and moving geocaching in a positive direction.
- Tenure in geocaching, and/or hiding and finding geocaches, can be a contributing factor but not the sole reason for nomination. It's beneficial for nominees to have a well-rounded geocaching profile with finds, hides, and event attendance or hosting.
- Nominees should embrace and help the entire geocaching community.
- Board members are eligible nominees two (2) years after their terms end.
- Nominees must be human.
- Nominators should advise their nominees of the submission for HOF consideration.
Nomination Ballot
Nominations must include the following information. Submit via the nomination form.
- Nominee Name
- Nominee Username
- Nominator Name
- Nominator Username
- Specific accomplishments you want the Board to consider — why do you believe this person should be inducted into the HOF?
Election Process
Upon receipt of nominations, the Board reviews the submissions and creates a consolidated ballot. A committee of HOF members and the Board votes on the nominations.
- Committee members may cast up to three (3) votes.
- Voters rank the nominees 1 through 3 to help resolve ties.
- The three (3) nominees with the most votes and lowest total score are inducted at the following Texas Challenge. It is the Board's discretion to induct more or fewer than three (3) in any given year.
- In the event of a second- or third-place tie, the total number of inductees may be increased.
Additional Committee guidelines
- HOF members currently on the Board have one vote.
- HOF members nominated as part of a team — the team has one vote.
- Only living HOF members may vote.
- Non-human HOF members (e.g., Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Museum) do not vote.
HOF Recipients
- New HOF inductees are announced at the following Texas Challenge.
- Inductees are presented an engraved TXGA HOF Ammo Can and ten (10) personalized TXGA HOF Pathtags.
